A minor update but exciting for Burt. Last night, at some point his feeding tube disconnected but did not stop running for the entire night. It soaked his bed, his clothes and the floor surrounding his bed. Don't worry this isn't the exciting part. While he described that part of the experience as vile, it did lead to the first shower in almost ten weeks. The shower was the best he'd ever had, regardless of the bench.
Sorry, no pictures.
In other news, Burt is eating more and should be moving off his feeding tube completely pretty soon. Keep on chewing Burt! In sports, Burt is keeping up with his walking, getting stronger everyday and is going to start working on a recumbent bike in the next few days.
A "recumbent" bike? Now THAT'S funny! What's next? A recumbent car?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of recumbent, check out these sleeping kittens on You Tube:

Miriam Makeba and Odetta
ReplyDeleteWhen Miriam Makeba died on Nov. 10, 2008, I searched You Tube and found a few performances I thought were great. You can just listen or pedal along:
"Pata Pata". Here are three I thought were wonderful:

Then, when Odetta died three weeks later, on Dec. 2, 2008, I put this mix together from You Tube:

Burt tends to credit me for instilling a love of great music in him. But the information went both ways: he broadened my taste in music too when we were kids. One great artist I learned of from Burt was Odetta, who my sister mentions in one of her posts. Anyone who hasn't heard this amazing woman is doing themselves a disservice and my sister has made it easy for you to fix this problem.
ReplyDeleteI'll be visiting Burt on Sunday, so I'm really happy to hear about the shower.
ReplyDeleteSo exactly how did the feeding tube become disconnected?
ReplyDeleteWe have to wrap the dogs and cats very well around their bodies so they don't chew the tubes off or scratch them off with their hind limbs.
Just what were you doing in your sleep, Burt?
It was so great to see you and watch the incredible progress you have made - by the next time we're there it will be better still!! Bob and I have discussed your inner strength several times over the last week - you are an inspiration and we love you!!!
